The Government of Canada has launched the call for proposals for community-based projects through the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP). The deadline to submit applications is September 14, 2023.

The community-based stream of the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) is a federal grant that supports projects that empower seniors in their communities and contribute to improving their health and well-being.

The New Horizons for Seniors Program funding creates opportunities for seniors to be more connected, supported, and active members of their communities. This year’s program objectives aim to focus on:

• Promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations;
• Engage seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;
• Expand awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;
• Support the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and
• Provide capital assurance for new and existing community projects and programs for seniors.

Community-based projects are eligible to receive up to $25,000 in grant funding for 1 year.
