Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Grant
July 5, 2023

Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), community organizations host free tax clinics where volunteers file tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation. Last year, over 3,400 community partners and 14,700 volunteers helped more than 649,000 people access benefits and credits by completing their tax returns.

The CVITP grant helps community organizations offset the cost of hosting free tax clinics and provides funding to organizations based on the number of federal income tax returns filed.

To encourage other community organizations to participate in our free tax clinic programs and reach even more Canadians, we’re increasing the funding available through this grant.

Here’s what organizations need to know about the CVITP Grant:

This year, the CVITP Grant online application portal is now open until July 31, 2023.
