Today, the Prime Minister met with all thirteen premiers to work together to improve health care for Canadians.

To improve health care, we’re providing $198.6 billion in additional federal funding over the next 10 years. This includes planned increases to the Canada Health Transfer and new funding of $48 billion over the next ten years.

We need to deliver real results for Canadians, so alongside this new investment we will sign agreements with provinces and territories to:

• Make sure Canadians have access to family doctors and nurse practitioners;
• Support the people who power our health care system and reduce backlogs;
• Help people get good mental health care and substance use supports; and
• Ensure your health information is available to you and your health providers – so you get the best quality care.

Additionally, provinces and territories need to provide transparent information so Canadians can be sure that every new dollar being announced today is exactly that: a new dollar that will go towards real results.
