Government of Canada to remove COVID-19 border and travel measures effective October 1
September 27, 2022

Yesterday, the Government of Canada announced the removal of all COVID-19 entry restrictions, as well as all testing, quarantine, and isolation requirements for anyone entering Canada effective October 1, 2022.

Although travelers will no longer be required to wear a mask on planes and trains, it is still strongly recommended that they do.

From the very beginning, the health and safety of Canadians has always been our highest priority. Canada is now in a much better place than we were in 2020 and this is thanks to the efforts of Canadians stepping up to get vaccinated and making sacrifices to adhere to public health measures.

15 times fewer hospitalizations and 20 times fewer deaths – this is the outcome from Canadians stepping up together to make the right choices.

We all know that our healthcare system is fragile, and we must protect it. As such, it is important for individuals to remain up to date with their vaccination and to keep up with personal protective habits, such as wearing masks in poorly ventilated places, and staying home if they have symptoms.

Data suggests that if Canada were to increase its rate of people with 3 doses from 60% to 90%, it would reduce hospitalizations by 90% from this winter. So, with fall booster vaccine campaigns starting across the country and Moderna’s new bivalent vaccine targeting Omicron, now is the time for everyone to get up-to-date with their vaccinations and recharge your immunity!
