Passover begins this evening and continues until the evening of April 23rd.

Passover (Hebrew Pesaḥ or Pesach), in Judaism, commemorates the Israelites’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. It is a celebration of freedom, the power of faith and hope, and the perseverance of the Jewish people, who have continuously prevailed in the face of persecution. Traditionally, families and loved ones gather around the Seder table to enjoy festive meals and wine, read from the Haggadah, and recite the four questions in celebration of freedom.

As families across Canada and the world prepare for Passover, let its story remind us of the power of courage, resilience, and perseverance, which is more relevant today than ever.

Passover is also a time to remember our collective responsibility to continue our efforts to combat antisemitism and all forms of prejudice, hate, and discrimination to build a consciously more inclusive society for all.
