Today, Tamils in Canada and around the world celebrate Puthandu, Tamil New Year.
Puthandu is an important symbol of renewal and hope and a joyous occasion that includes religious ceremonies, traditional foods, gift giving, and cultural activities. This year, as we ease out of the pandemic, celebrations will take place in accordance with local public health guidelines.
As the Tamil community in Fleetwood—Port Kells and Tamils across Canada celebrate, let us all take time to learn about their rich heritage and celebrate the significant contributions that Tamils in Canada have made and continue to make in building a fairer, more diverse, and consciously more inclusive Canada for all.
Iniya Puthandu Nalvazhthukkal!
