Today, Minister St-Onge launched the Community Sport for All Initiative, a component of the Sport Support Program. The initiative seeks to remove barriers and increase sport participation rates, particularly among Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, low-income and newcomer communities.
Canadian organizations with the capacity to reach equity-deserving groups in multiple provinces or territories are invited to submit a proposal. They have until April 4, 2022, to do so.
Like many other sectors in the country, the sport sector has been hit hard by the pandemic. The access restrictions and temporary closures of many sport facilities and schools have made it challenging for Canadians to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Our government is committed to building stronger and healthier communities across the country. Sport has the power to bring us together while adopting healthy lifestyles.
