Yesterday, Minister Hussen announced a Call for Concepts for the $200-million Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund. Led by and for Black Canadians, the Black-led Philanthropic Endowment fund is created to sustainably source funding to improve social and economic outcomes in Black communities.
Black-led charities and non-profit organizations are key to fighting anti-Black racism and ending inequities across the country. However, Black-led and Black-serving community organizations are underfunded by Canada’s philanthropic sector.
That’s why we are inviting Black-led organizations, charities, and interested Canadians to participate in this call before it closes on March 7, 2022. The Government of Canada wants to hear from you about how the Endowment Fund can be designed according to a “Nothing about us without us” approach.
We want to know:
This is an important initiative to help Black-led charities, non-profits, and more to share their ideas!
More information is available in the news release.
