New Immunization Partnership Fund (IPF) Funding
January 21, 2022

The BC Centre for Disease Control and the Dr. Peter Centre will be receiving federal funding to support Canada and British Columbia’s pandemic recovery. The BC Centre for Disease Control will study vaccine effectiveness while the Dr. Peter Centre is working to increase vaccine uptake in marginalized communities.

The Government of Canada is working with provinces and territories to make sure everyone in Canada has access to the COVID-19 vaccines and access to accurate information on the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines.

Throughout the pandemic, people across Canada have helped limit the spread of COVID-19 by getting vaccinated and following individual protective measures. As we continue our collective fight against COVID-19, we are mindful that the spread of misinformation can cause real harm and put our progress against COVID-19 at risk.

As a result, it is critical that Canadians have the support necessary to access evidence-based and culturally safe information needed to make informed vaccination decisions.  We also recognize that this information needs to come from trusted sources, in a way that is easily understood.

TheImmunization Partnership Fund (IPF) supports trusted organizations across Canada to share credible, timely COVID-19 vaccination information with their communities.

These organizations can help reach underserved and undervaccinated populations with tailored outreach and evidence-based interventions to fill information gaps and reduce vaccination barriers.

Close to 100 community-based projects have been funded through the IPF, supporting the delivery of vaccine confidence programming to those working directly with key populations (i.e. urban and rural Indigenous communities, parents, children and youth, racialized groups, new Canadians and refugees, religious minority communities) and to health care providers as vaccinators and vaccine promoters.

Through the Immunization Partnership Fund (IPF), the Government of Canada is working with partners and public health advocates to address these factors and close the gap in vaccine hesitancy and uptake through evidence-based, culturally relevant and community-based interventions.
