December 15 marked the launch of the Canada Summer Jobs 2022 employer application period. The application period will close on January 25, 2022.

The CSJ program has played a major role over the years - particularly throughout the pandemic – in connecting young people who need work with employers who are looking to hire.

Through programs such as the CSJ, the Government of Canada is ensuring that employers and young people have the supports they need to succeed, which is key to economic recovery.

Every year, the Government establishes national priorities for CSJ to reflect Canada’s diverse population and evolving needs. The national priorities for CSJ 2022 were adapted to help make sure that young people furthest from opportunity are able to find meaningful work next summer. In addition, CSJ 2022 will prioritize small businesses and not-for-profit organizations that self-report as having leadership from communities that are underrepresented in the labour market.

This year, CSJ 2022 will target the creation of up to 100,000 full-time summer job opportunities for young Canadians. This represents a nearly 40% increase of the pre-pandemic targets. 

A summer job is an important way for young people to earn money while gaining valuable work experience that will help them on the road to a successful career.
