REMINDER: One-Time Top-Up to the Canada Housing Benefit Deadline Approaching
March 8, 2023

Our government announced a $500 one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit to provide relief to low-income renters. Since its launch on December 12, 2022, over 600,000 Canadians have already applied to the benefit, however, time is running out for eligible individuals and families to submit their applications, as the March 31 deadline fast approaches.

The one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit provides eligible applicants with a $500 one-time payment to help with their housing costs. To be eligible, applicants must have an adjusted net income in 2021 of $35,000 or less for families, or $20,000 or less for individuals, and pay at least 30% of their adjusted family net income towards rent in the 2022 calendar year.

Eligible applicants can easily apply through their Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) My Account. For more information on the benefit and eligibility criteria, please visit canada.ca/one-time-housing-benefit

I encourage eligible applicants to apply before the March 31, 2023 deadline.
