March 8 is International Women’s Day – a global day to recognize and celebrate women’s and girls’ social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. It’s also a time to raise awareness of the progress made towards achieving gender equality and the work remaining to be done.
This year’s theme, Every Woman Counts, reminds us that women from all ages and walks of life have a place in every aspect of life in Canada. These women, and so many others, are leading the way forward toward a more prosperous, equal, and inclusive Canada, and reminding the girls who will come after them that their dreams are within reach.
This International Women’s Day, I invite you to join the conversation on Women and Gender Equality Canada’s social media channels by using the hashtag #IWD2023. Tell us about the remarkable women and girls in your life that inspire you!
