Since resuming in January, we had a busy parliamentary sitting – the government introduced 14 bills in the House and 7 in the Senate to deliver on key promises we made to Canadians: making our communities safer by introducing the toughest gun laws in 40 years, making housing more affordable, supporting seniors, and so much more.
While we have worked closely with MPs and Senators to deliver results, the Conservative Party used obstruction tactics 17 times over the past 14 weeks to block the work of MPs and prevent the House from debating government legislation. This often meant the work of the House was interrupted by several hours, and that a bill scheduled to be debated on a certain day was not debated on that day at all.
In response to rising affordability challenges and Putin’s war in Ukraine, we are working hard with opposition parties to deliver on the promises we made to make life better for Canadians.
