Launch of PocketWell app for mental health and substance use resources and supports
January 14, 2022

Today, Minister Bennett announced the launch of the PocketWell app, a companion app to Wellness Together Canada, providing Canadians with another way to access free, 24/7, online mental health and substance use resources and supports. The pandemic has been hard on Canadians' mental health and well-being, especially health care workers. Our government will continue to support Canadians, and their mental health, through COVID-19.

In a typical year, 1 in 5 Canadians experience a mental illness or addiction problem - and nearly half of Canadians reported that their mental health worsened during the pandemic including 7 out of 10 healthcare workers

Supporting the mental health and well-being of Canadians is a priority for the Government of Canada. Having an app to complement the Wellness Together Canada (WTC) portal will help increase awareness and improve accessibility of available mental health and substance use resources for all Canadians.

Through PocketWell, the WTC companion app, individuals across the country can link to the WTC portal to access resources ranging from self-assessment to customized support based on their assessment. Via the app, all Canadians can connect seamlessly to WTC for free and confidential virtual sessions with social workers, psychologists and other professionals.

PocketWell is available 24/7, making free and confidential mental health and substance use services that are available on the WTC portal even more accessible to Canadians.
